Septicemia

Blood poisoning; Bacteremia with sepsis

Definition

Septicemia is bacteria in the blood (bacteremia) that often occurs with severe infections. Also called sepsis, septicemia is a serious, life-threatening response to an infection that may get worse very quickly.
